Hello! Welcome to my site. This page is dedicated to informing you about me. First off, let me introduce myself. My name is Kaitlin McMitchell, and I am an incredibly proud and passionate Elementary Teacher.
Before I begin, I want to acknowledge that I would not be in the position that I am now if it was not for my beautiful and loving mother Freda, my hilarious and supportive father Bill, and my incredible network of friends. I am very thankful for the people in my life. Thank you.
I have recently graduated from the University of Lethbridge with an English and Education degree. I feel fortunate to have attended the UofL because of the various strong and supportive relationships I have forged both with my instructors and with fellow new teachers.
Why have I chosen to pursue a career in education? Perhaps not surprisingly, this is not an easy question to answer. I have narrowed it down to two main reasons. First, because I absolutely love working with people, and helping others. I love watching others learn by interacting with the world around them. I want to be part of this process, and to share my own love of learning.
Second, because I believe that there is room for improvement in the current education system. I believe that our school systems are making enormous leaps with policies such as inclusion and differentiated learning, however, I do believe that there is room for improvement, and I want to use my knowledge and passion to help promote equal learning opportunities.
I have many loves and interests. I love photography, and for a few years in high school I worked part time as a photographer at a local studio. Like many others, I love travelling. Any opportunity that I get to go somewhere and see something new I jump at it. I think that new experiences are critical for lifelong learning. I also love food, books, and naps! I particularly love naps. I love my puppy, Dobby, and as you may have guessed from his name, I have a soft spot for Harry Potter as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me,
Miss Kaitlin McMitchell
